WWCS Emergency Procedures and Drill Requirements

The purpose of our emergency plans is to provide you with the state of Michigan’s required procedures for emergency situations.  Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with them so you will be prepared in the event of an actual emergency.

  • The law requires a minimum of 5 fire drills (3 prior to December) each year.
  • A minimum of 2 tornado safety drills is required for each school year at the schools and facilities described in subsection (1). At least 1 of the tornado safety drills shall be conducted during March of the school year. These drills shall be conducted for the purpose of preventing injuries caused by severe weather.
  • The law requires 3 school safety drills each year, with one drill being conducted during a time when students are not in their usual setting; lunch, recess, passing…

The Principal/Assistant is required to schedule and implement all ten of these required drills.  Follow the link to the calendar  to schedule or edit your dates.

Each Teacher must have an Emergency folder kept near the classroom door with an updated class roster accessible in case of emergency.  In your absence, the sub must place a copy of that day’s attendance in the emergency folder to have a accurate student count.
