Floorplans
The purpose of developing, maintaining, and exercising an emergency plan is to empower employees in an instant to act quickly and knowledgeably. It educates staff, faculty, students and other key stakeholders on the roles and responsibilities before, during and after an incident.
Emergency “Stop Light” Folders
This folder is broken up into three compartments.
- Red for immediate help (student injured, student missing).
- Yellow, Everybody is fine but I have an extra student.
- Green, everything’s OK.
Each teacher is responsible to maintain an emergency: “stop light” folder. This folder needs to be easily accessible in your classroom. It needs to contain an updated class roster and additional copies of all emergency procedures including fire egress maps and tornado maps. These maps should also be posted in your classroom near the exit door.
Copies of the Wayne-Westland community school district emergency response instructions are located behind the staff door on the district website at wwcsd.net. This document contains all the rules and regulations that all staff members must be aware of. It is our responsibility as employees of the Wayne-Westland Community schools to be aware and these policies.
After each drill please take some time to debrief with your students on what went well and what they need to work on.
